Many of you may remember one of my really old posts about vBSEO on CruiseLineForums. The post detailed how it wasn’t really a working solution for us at the time and I detailed what I thought was going on, but I do think some people may have taken that post a bit more harshly then what I was intending.
I think the faults that happend during that transition time were that we installed the hack in mid-stream of our forum growth. And even before the time our traffic coming in from the SEs was very low, somewhere around 2%! Not to mention the forum grew so fast that so many backlinks were acquired I think it hurt us.
But now we have changed domains from CruiseLineForums.com to CruiseLineFans.com to try and combat some of the bad mojo and we figured since this was basically starting from scratch (some may call it suicide! hehe) that we should give vBSEO yet another shot. I am a big believer in Content Relevant URLS and although the price tag is a bit steep for some it was the easiest solution for us. Not to mention the new trackback/pingback feature is really cool.
So once again one the most debated products on the market for vBulletin is going to be benchmarked once more! haha

Good luck. Keep us updated on how it goes.

Yes I noticed that you change it back, I think it is a good move becuase while I don’t use vBSEO I do use SEO URL’s and have seen great result mainly from MSN. I am ranked #3 for Lost Season 3 which is A) a pretty good keyword and also a very big step seeing as my site is qutie small.
Good luck,
Adam
VBSEO is a awesome tool. I love it. Good luck
We should compare notes sometime Rex, I’m about to start a very similar project (moving forum to new domain, adding vbSEO, etc etc), about the same size project too. I’d be interested to hear your insights.
I just did the same thing, I had a big Disney fan forum that I changed names, and I added vbseo from the start up on the new domain. Yahoo has taken to use like wildfure, Google has been ok and MSN has been horrible. So for, I love the software, and the timing was perfect for us. It will be interesting to see how it works for you.
I’ve also decided to give it a test, on one of my smaller forums. We’ll see if it does any good.
Peter hit me up anytime. You know where to find me..
Does anyone think that vBulletin 4.0 will have an option for better URLs?
That doesn’t change if you should use VBSEO now but I think there is a good chance it will.
Rex, I can’t wait to see what you think about vbSEO after a month or two goes by.
Hey Rex! I was wondering if you have any initial feedback so far on your results?
I’m in the midst of a massive overhaul of my community, and need to make the call on whether or not to buy vbSEO and integrate it in (it will be vbDrupal based - Drupal and vBulletin). Not sure if you’ll see the comment here so I’ll try to catch up with you on EF as well. Thanks my friend.
I notice though that by going to http://www.cruiselineforums.com it goes straight into the
http://www.cruiselinefans.com/
so we cannot take the results as being thankful to vBSEO as you are not in actual fact committing suicide but simply changing the domain name without breaking all the links established to the domain name
So, to me, vBSEO is not truly on trial again
Hope this time you’ll stick with vBSEO longer Rex.
