Two Is Always Better Than One!

Hey guys, I’ve been quite busy lately and haven’t posted in a while and I’m sorry for that, but you know how life goes. Okay, so now that that is out the way, I have been getting alot of questions asked to me lately about starting new forums and how to get them off the ground. And that is where the title this post comes from, Two Is Always Better Than One.

Now I’m just using two as an example but it could be more than two. What I mean is before you even start a new forum do one of the following.

-Find a partner willing to split cost / time with you.
-Find a team to help you start your forum.

I know what your thinking, give someone else my idea and split the profit with them. No way! But let me tell you how much easier it is for 2 people to start a forum versus doing so by yourself. Of course the obvious benefit is splitting costs but the best benefit is in the law of numbers. Now you have 2 members! This is 2 members that have an active interest in the forum, and 2 members that have a different set of friends and contacts.

This is the easiest way to start up a new forum and to get activity boosted quickly. Heck, those 2 members can create 2-4 fake members between them which makes 4-8 new fake members! Now do the math and think if you start with a larger team, maybe 4-6 partners. The odds just go up and up.

Now I’m not saying you can’t start a forum on your own because you can, but I really believe the odds go against you and you might not be able to speed up the process of growing your forum with just yourself operating it.

So thats my .02 on this issue.

I guess you are right but most people will ignore this advice. Why? Because people are simply selfish, and that’s a real problem in most cases.

Good advice, but I for one wont follow it. I have had too many bad experiences in the past with partnering up with these kind of things. As nick said, people are selfish, if one isnt, the other is. So for me I just as soon do it myself.

I disagree Nick, most people are too proud to accept the help of others.

This is an issue I am slowly overcoming.

Great advice. The only problem is finding the “right” partner. It’s hard enough to find someone you trust in the real world. Cyberspace makes this even tougher.

I’d like to see some tips on finding the ideal website partner.

Generally I have to agree with Lee Dodd! Especially if you are creating more than one community, how the hell are you going to build up and manage all by yourself? Yes it’s hard to find the right people, since some people are selfish. But the first step to finding partner is, don’t be selfish yourself. Just because you build the website doesn’t means you have to take all credits. Building up is just as important!

My suggestion is don’t find partners from total strangers or simply any members from your website, unless they seems really nice and interested. Cos it’s usually hard to build trust. It be good if it’s a friend, a friend’s friend, or just some1 you are somehow connected with. Partner with some1 who has an strong interest related to the website you are building, so he/she probably won’t be too money driven.

Sometimes it will be better to look for more than 1 partner especially in a forum based community. So do u pick one here and pick one there? Not a good idea in most cases since they don’t know each other. Simply pick one, with a few friends with similar interest, and let them build the community with you together. Humans are like that, they feel more comfortable, interested, and motivated with frens.
