It can be tough to get your site listed in Yahoo!. And while you’re probably not missing out on a lot of traffic, Yahoo! does still hold some market share so getting listed is important. There is a trick though. If you don’t already have a Yahoo! account, register for one. Then go to “My Yahoo!” and click “Add Content” then “Add RSS By URL”. Paste the URL of your forum RSS feed and voila. Yahoo! is now aware of your RSS feed, and thus, your site. In a few days you should see Slurp (the Yahoo bot) cruising around your site slurping up pages. And within a few short weeks, a search for “site:yourdomain.com” should return a few pages from your site.

I love it - great tip Chris!
This trick is for Yahoo! Search which isn’t really all that tough to get into. The real problem is getting into the Yahoo! Directory without paying the yearly fee of $299.
Gyutae, you are very correct, I should probably re-title this. If your site is new it can still take months to get in the SERPS though, so using this method does speed up the process dramatically.
Of course you could just go get a few prominent back links and get in with most of the engines without much hassle.
Heh, yea, I was thinking that it would be a trick to get a directory listing too.
Yeah I also thought this post would be about getting in the Yahoo Directory. Getting in the search index has never been a problem for me, just get one or more links from established webpages and you’re in the index before you know it.
Getting in the directory for free is much more valuable too and it requires some skill and knowledge.
