Diggers Don’t Click - Who Cares?

When I first read this article about Digg.com users not clicking ads I thought it was rather interesting yet nothing mind blowing. I mean these are internet savvy users who want their news and they want it fast and to the point. They are not going to be clicking on ads much because they want to get back to digging for stories.

But what the article author forgot to mention is not everyone runs on per click advertising. Think of the sites that are running on CPM advertising. Cost per 1000 doesn’t matter whether anyone clicks on an ad or not. They just need people viewing the ads. Now I’m not tossing out the arguement that CTR will most likely go down but it’s a fine line toss up. You may not get digg users to click them or be an avid reader of your site but they may blog about it or tell friends or email someone. Not all is lost.

Again I say Diggers Don’t Click - Who Cares? If you have something interesting to share with the world then post it and see if the digg users like it. It never hurts to try!
