It has long been known that search engines DO look at a site’s speed when factoring the “importance” or “value” of that site. So, my FORUMS 101 class begins with GET A GOOD HOST with plenty of space and bandwidth. Don’t be afraid to spend money here is you need to. Do your homework and only work with a reputable host of which you have received at least two votes of confidence.
